Well, every TMT product from PA have that "issue" (even if they call it a feature). I wonder if I don't like to boost EQs (other than Pultec-types) because they're not boosting helpful frequencies? I tend to get better results from strategic cuts. I don't boost frequencies very often because I don't like the sound. That's not something we should be accepting, even from console style EQs. Nevertheless, it seems that what UIs actually tell us about the actual effect is surprisingly hazy. That's the kind of bottomless pit I was hoping to avoid. I'm not sure I dig the soft conspiracy ideology you describe from DMG. I used to buy eq plugins all the time, but for nearly ten years now I’ve not found anything that even sounds as good as Equilibrium. Illuminating.Īnd if you’re like me, it will spoil every other eq. Heck, download the manual and you’ll learn a ton just from reading about curves. It has EQ curves from most of everyone’s favorite EQs and the graph shows what’s REALLY happening with familiar knob settings. If you want to understand just how crazy things can be, download the Equilibrium demo from DMG Audio.
